The American Association of Australian Literary Studies (AAALS), established in 1986, is a professional organization with members in North America, Australasia, Europe, and Asia. An invitation to membership is extended to all those interested in Australian literature and culture. AAALS offers its members the opportunity to develop and express their interest in Australian literary and cultural studies through the following:

  • Subscription to Antipodes, a fully-refereed North American journal of Australian literature and culture.
  • Access to the AAALS Newsletter, the source for information regarding events and activities within the organization.
  • An annual Australian literary and cultural studies conference that provides a forum for the presentation of scholarly work and social interaction with other members of the academic community.
  • A network of scholars and friends who share an interest in Australian literature and culture.
